Assisting landowners with conservation in Scott County is what we do. In addition to solving soil erosion issues and water quality concerns, we also focus on education and outreach with a number of events, activities and workshops planned for residents of all ages.

Adult Education

The Scott Clean Water Education Program (SCWEP) is a partnership of local government organizations in Scott County that strives to  educate and inform residents about ways to improve the quality of our lakes and rivers. Whether you want to install a rain barrel or create a raingarden to reduce runoff from your property, we are here to guide you, city staff, elected officials and businesses. Our goal is to make our county’s natural resources healthier by keeping rain water close to where it falls.

The goal of SCWEP is to improve water resources in Scott County through an educational program that delivers information about stormwater (rain water) runoff and its impact on our lakes and rivers. SCWEP also plans educational activities to engage the general public, municipal staff, businesses and elected officials and to help improve the quality of our lakes and rivers.

The SCWEP partnership includes Credit River Township, Jackson Township, City of Prior Lake, Prior Lake- Spring Lake Watershed District, City of Savage, Scott County, Scott Soil and Water Conservation District, Scott Watershed Management Organization, Spring Lake Township and the Vermillion River Watershed Joint Powers Organization.

Contact Water Resource Education Coordinator Dan Miller to discuss stormwater issues in your neighborhood, issues like rain water falling on your roof, driveway, sidewalk and street that travels to storm drains where it carries pollutants to the nearest pond, stream, ditch, wetland, river or lake.
