EQUIPMENT RENTAL

The Scott SWCD has agricultural equipment available for rent. The SWCD makes this equipment available so farmers can try out different conservation farming techniques without having to invest in expensive equipment.  Because of the rental program, farmers in Scott County, Minnesota are able to do more to conserve their soil and water resources.

Give our office a call at 952-492-5425 to request a delivery or submit an e-signature on the Terms and Conditions of Rental form and a Technician will contact you to schedule your rental and process payment.

Rentals are confirmed over the phone by a technician and details of deliver and estimated use are entered at that time.

A technician will deliver the equipment directly to the drop location and provide an overview of the equipment's operation.

Notify the District upon completion of use and the District will set up a time to pick up the equipment.

DRIP TORCH

Pickup equipment at the Scott SWCD office and staff will  provide an overview of the equipment's operation, and set up any required video training before taking the equipment.

Once done drop off the equipment back at the Scott SWCD office.

Brillion Sure Stand Seeder

The Brillion drill is very useful in seeding filter strips, lawns, CRP fields and waterways. 

Planting width: 10 feet
Row Width: Broadcast
Equipment Required: 50HP Tractor with hydraulics
Grain Box: Suitable for large seeded grasses
Legume Box: For seeding small seeds (legumes, small grass seeds like switchgrass)

John Deere 1590 No-Till Drill

This drill is equipped for soybeans and small grain, with a grass seed attachment to interseed alfalfa or renovate pastures.  The most common practice of no-till has been solid seeding soybeans or sorghum into corn residue.

Equipment Required: 100 HP Tractor with hydraulics
Grain Box: Used for seeding soybeans, small grains
Legume Box: Suited for seeding alfalfa or renovating pastures
Castor Wheel: Allows drill to take tighter corners

Great Plains 1006 NT No-Till Drill

This drill is equipped for seeding native grasses, small grain, grass and legume.  The drill is also very useful in renovating pastures and seeding waterways and filter strips.

 

Planting width: 10 feet
Row Width: 7.5 inches
Equipment Required: 75 HP Tractor with hydraulics
Native Grass Box: For seeding large native prairie grass seeds
Grain Box: Suitable for small grain seeds (such as oats)
Legume Box: For seeding small seeds (legumes or small grass seeds like switchgrass)

Cover Crop Inter-Seeder

The Inter-Seeder can plant cover crop seed into standing crops, leaving more time for growth before the fall frost.

Row Width: 30 inches

Grain Box: For inter-seeding cover crops

Finn Krimper

The Krimper is ideal for seeding projects that require the use of straw or hay mulch to protect the seed and help it grow while retaining moisture.

Hand Seeders

The hand seeders for are great for small native grass seedings, dormant broadcast seedings, or for seeding grass on bare patches in your lawn.  These hand seeders work great for plantings that are two acres or less.

Red Hand Seeder

The red hand seeder works for seeding small areas of cool season grasses. It utilizes a mechanical handle.

Loppers and Saws

The loppers and saws are available to be used for removing buckthorn and other invasive species that out-compete beneficial native plants.

Weed Wrench

The weed wrenches are for the removal of buckthorn at its roots. The wrench will allow for entire stump removal of buckthorn and any other invasive species

Rental Rates

  • SEEDERS & DRILLS: $10 an acre; & a non-refundable drop charge of $150 required. In addition, a $50 deposit is required.

  • FINN KRIMPER: Single-use drop charge of $75. In addition, a $50 deposit is required. 

  • LOPPERS & SAWS: $25 deposit required

  • HAND SEEDERS & WEED WRENCHES: $50 deposit required

  • DRIP TORCH: $20 a day Fee. In addition, a $50 deposit is required.

 

ALL deposits will be refunded when the equipment is returned without damage.
